Art of the Willing Hearts is a very special art event in aid of the Singapore charity Willing Hearts to be held from 20 – 21 May 2017.

Put together by students and staff from the MA Arts and Cultural Management Programme at LASALLE College of the Arts in partnership with Chan + Hori Contemporary, Art of the Willing Hearts is an exhibition and auction of works by artists who graduated from LASALLE and have been making waves in the Singapore’s arts scene since. The LASALLE graduates featured are Ruben Pang, Khairullah Rahim, Herman Salleh, Ava Tan and  Mardiana Jamaludin. In addition, there is also a work by LASALLE’s McNally School of Fine Arts academic, talented artist and musician Dr Ian Woo.

100% of the proceeds from the auction of works will go directly to Willing Hearts, a volunteer-run charity that operates a soup kitchen that prepares and distributes about 5,000 daily meals to over 40 locations island wide, 365 days a year. Willing Hearts’ beneficiaries include the elderly, the disabled, low-income families, children from single-parent homes and migrant workers.

These six very special artworks are donated for this good cause by a private collector who supports young LASALLE artists through the early years of their careers, including the first artwork ever sold by Khairullah Rahim.

Showcasing a rich mix of styles and mediums, the artworks celebrate the energy of youth, the beauty and the hope. One of the highlights is an early work by Ruben Pang, created in his signature ethereal style but using an uncharacteristically bright and delicate palette rarely seen in his later works. Each work tells its own story, which will be shared with you at the exhibition. Visit About the artworks to see more details about the artworks and artists.

The exhibition and auction of works is organised on a voluntary basis. We believe an artist must always look beyond himself to create good art, and with this auction we are looking to give back to society and community.

Join us for a soulful and fun reception dedicated to our wonderful artistic talents and to the true sense of compassion and community, on Saturday 20 May, 3 pm, at Chan + Hori Contemporary’s Shophouse 5 located at 5, Lorong 24A Geylang.

This will be a silent auction. You may make your bids at the opening, or indicate your interest by email to: artofwillinghearts@gmail.com
